These are the most famous people you’ve never heard of!
The Touhill welcomes Music City Hit-Makers for a one-of-a-kind musical event that features #1 hits, Grammy Award-winning artists, your favorite country songs, and the stories behind them.
This Bluebird Café style writers round will feature three of Nashville’s most celebrated songwriters sharing some of their favorite songs and all of the stories behind them from writing inspiration to recording them with household names such as Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Dixie Chicks and Tim McGraw.
Marcus Hummon is nicknamed Nashville’s Renaissance man for the many titles he has had in his successful career. Hummon will perform five of his #1 hit songs: One Of These Days recorded by Tim McGraw, Cowboy Take Me Away recorded by the Dixie Chicks, and Born to Fly recorded by Sara Evans. He will also perform his Grammy Award-winning songs Ready to Run written for the Dixie Chicks and God Bless this Broken Road recorded by Rascal Flatts.
Chris Destefano is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Destefano will perform six of his hit songs: From the Ground Up by Dan + Shay, Rewind by Rascal Flatts, Hey Girl by Billy Currington, Kick the Dust Up by Luke Bryan, Don’t Ya by Brett Eldredge, and Grammy Award-winning Something in the Water recorded by Carrie Underwood.
Rivers Rutherford landed his first cut with American legends Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson (aka The Highwaymen). What followed were 8 #1 hits, multiple Grammys, CMA and ACM nominations, and over 20 ASCAP Awards, including both of the coveted awards for Country Song Of The Year and Songwriter Of The Year, all of which have firmly established Rutherford's position within the upper echelon of Nashville's most lauded songwriters. You'll see Rivers' name on #1 songs by Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Gretchen Wilson, Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton (for the stunning and Grammy-nominated duet "When I Get Where I'm Going"), Kenny Chesney, Rodney Atkins, Trace Adkins, and Brooks & Dunn - penning the duo's most successful single to-date ("Ain't Nothing 'Bout You") which spent 6-weeks at #1 and won both 2002 Billboard and 2002 ASCAP Song Of The Year awards. Rivers has also enjoyed success with Country giants the likes of Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith, Faith Hill, and Gary Allan.
Each songwriter will perform with symphonic scores by arranger and conductor Charles Judge performed by St. Louis’ own Oakville-Mehlville High School Orchestra.
Don’t miss this unique night of songs, symphony, and stories!
