One of the most iconic rock bands in history, America is touring the world with the close vocal harmonies and light acoustic folk rock sound that has earned them megahits throughout the world, including “A Horse With No Name,” “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Lonely People” and “Sister Golden Hair,” as well as six certified gold and/or platinum albums. Since the band was awarded the Grammy Award for Best New Artist, America has been beloved by music critics and fans of all kinds. Now celebrating their 50th anniversary, the timeless duo of Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012.

America’s material traverses a wide range of musical territory, from textured and guitar-driven rock to infectious pop songs and heart-wrenching ballads, and the intricacies of their well-crafted songs are on full display in their famous live shows. Beginning in their formative years, America is a band that has united music lovers of all types and backgrounds through their uplifting music and positive messages. Throughout every audience, the wide range of demographics and ages of America’s ardent fan base is a true testament to how well-written, earnest and heartfelt music can transcend our differences and unite us. "I think that the ingredients of the America sound are the basic fundamentals that translate internationally," explains Beckley. "The Italians are huge fans of dance music, but they also love a ballad—they're romantic at heart. It's the same in the Far East. A lot of times in these countries, we see people singing along, and they don't really know what the words mean. Music is truly the international language."

On September 20th, Beckley and Bunnell will take the Touhill audience on a nostalgic trip through the career of America to experience the full evolution of their inimitable sound, developed in tandem with Sir George Martin, the legendary producer and collaborator with the Beatles. Performing hits and telling stories from a highly celebrated catalog that spans five decades, this performance will be the perfect way to experience the emotional journey and relive the memories spanning 50 years of America. A pre- and post-show meet and greet will be available for university VIPs, friends and event sponsors.

Friends members get access to special experiences for events within the Discover series, this can include special giveaways, drink tickets, artist meet and greets and backstage tours.  Please call the ticket office at 314-516-4949 for more details.
