Chicago-Style Improvisational Comedy

The Improv Shop, featuring guest monologist Tom George, UMSL Chancellor, will bring its Chicago-style improvisational comedy to the Touhill on Wednesday, May 15. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the E. Desmond & Mary Ann Lee Theater.

Founded in 2009, The Improv Shop is St. Louis’ only long-form improvisational comedy training school and theater. This performance will feature the the Armando format – Tom George will tell a personal tale about summer vacation, and the Improv troupe will build a series of hysterical vignettes that interweave characters, plot, story and other details.

Chancellor and professor of chemistry and physics at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, George is a community leader and fund-raiser and an active researcher in chemistry and physics, specializing in chemical/materials/laser physics and nanoscience, including nanomedicine. His work and research has been recognized nationally and internationally.

Chancellor George is also an accomplished jazz pianist. He has performed extensively in public, with recent performances at various venues in Missouri and Illinois. His concert highlights include international performances at universities in China, Hungary, Romania, Kuwait, Bosnia and Croatia.
